GeNeratioNs: Sandstorm

*I cheated a bit and included the Yasashika and Hinako drawings from the original GeNeratioNs pic. It just didn't seem right to leave out two of the Sand cousins.

GeNeratioNs: Children of the Sand

Yasashika (Gentle Deer) Nara is the son of Shikamaru and Temari, born 12 years ago, and one of the Suna cousins. He received his name because, as his mother said, “If he turns out anything like his father, he’s going to have a gentle heart.” Yasashika was born in Konoha, but has spent his childhood moving back and forth between Konoha and Suna with his parents and has been enrolled in both villages’ academies at various times in his life. It was only chance that Temari and Shikamaru happened to be stationed in Konoha during Yasashika’s graduating year. Now, as a Konoha graduate, he will remain behind with his new three-man team when the time comes for his parents to inevitably return to Suna.

Twins Taka and Hato (sons of Gaara and Matsuri) are young, but determined. They have a lot to live up to, what with their father being the great Kazekage and former Jinchurriki. Though Gaara has NEVER put his children through what he had to endure, and indeed, has turned out to be the most compassionate of fathers one could wish for, the village elders are another matter. Great things are expected from the twins, and so far they have risen to meet the challenge, filling their father and mother with quiet pride. Though only nine years old, they have already begun mastering ninja techniques and have shown a good deal of their father’s talents with sand. Strangely enough, it is the ill-named Hato (Dove) who has proven the more aggressive and domineering of the twins, while the meeker Taka (Hawk) prefers to avoid conflict.

(No, I am not being influenced by the last few TSUBASA chapters. Of course not. )

Nori (Doctrine) is the 16-year-old daughter of Gaara and Matsuri. She has a good deal of her Aunt Temari’s spunk, and has adopted her style of fighting. She trained with her aunt whenever Temari and Shikamaru were in Suna, and is now a master of Temari’s wind fan techniques. (Nori does not have an earth affiliation, and therefore cannot inherit her father’s sand techniques.) She gets along well with her younger cousins and her brothers, but finds her older cousin (and teammate) infuriating.

15 year old Hinako (Little Doll) is the daughter of Kankuro and Kashike, and cousin of Yasashika. Though a puppet master at heart like her father, she recognizes the necessity of learning multiple jutsu, and she is currently residing in Konoha to hone her wind-element techniques with her Aunt Temari. Of all the Konoha crew, she gets along best with the 13-year-old mechanical genius Takumi, Neji and Tenten’s son. The two will spend hours going over her puppets and tweaking the mechanisms to even deadlier purpose. She misses all of her family in Suna, but especially her older brother.

Tejinashi (Juggler/Magician) is the 17-year-old son of Kankuro and Kashike, and older brother to Hinako. Quiet and reclusive, he is the oldest of the Suna cousins. He used to be best friends with his cousin and teammate Nori, but as they grew older they also grew apart. His cynical personality is at odds with his father’s, and the two butt heads often. However, he has a soft spot for his younger sister. When not on a mission with his team, Tejinashi immerses himself in his puppetry studies, and has rejected all of his father’s old puppets, prefering to create his own. He has proved to have quite the genius for puppet creation, leading some of the village elders to compare him with Old Lady Chiyo…
